Welcome to Oakton, VA
A green, leafy suburb within perfect communing distance of the big city, Oakton is in the running for best small town in Virginia.
Located in Fairfax County (a suburb of Washington, D.C.), Oakton does have its own zip code (22124), but its actual borders are rather ambiguous, including nearby parts of Vienna, VA as well.
However, one of the greatest perks of this location is its easy-access to D.C. for commuters. Those living in the southeast of the area can easily walk to the last stop of the Orange Metro line in Vienna, VA, eliminating all the hassle of early morning traffic and parking. But, if you do choose to drive, it’s a breeze into town on historic Route 66 or U.S. Route 50.
But the best thing about Oakton? Its farming and equestrian beginnings heavily mark the town, as there are still plenty of areas that allow horses. Plus, there are trails throughout Oakton for horse riders.
It’s no wonder everyone is trying to nab their piece of Oakton.
